Karen Eide Bøen is a dancer and choreographer based in Bergen and Oslo (NO). She works as a freelance dance artist in collaboration with artists from the fields of dance, sound, music, video, theatre and technology. She is interested in the relationship between sound and movement, perception, language and power. In June 2017 she is graduating with a MA in choreography at Oslo National Academy of the Arts where she has been investigating sound and choreographic methods. Her two graduation pieces were Soft Command – a solo for dancer Alessandra Ruggeri, and To see yourself from the outside a duet performed and developed together with artist Hugo Hedberg. She holds a BA in Dance Theatre from Laban Centre, UK (2010), and performed with dance company thud! moving endangered spaces between 2006 and 2011. Her first stage performance Stål i bein og armer played at Cornerteateret in Bergen (NO) in January 2014. In 2016 she choreographed and performed the piece The Table Turns which premiered in Bergen International Theatre’s festival Oktoberdans. This was a collaboration with programmer and dramaturg Roar Sletteland and scenographer Apichaya Wanthiang.
